The site was formerly the Attaché Hotel, a 200 room hotel on Hollywood Beach. The project was a complete remodeling and updating of the building front, giving it an entirely new look and identity. Additionally, all public spaces were redesigned, including the lobby, lounge, swimming pool and all outside terraces and walks.
A new beach bar was built at the edge of the sand, and a new signature restaurant/lounge was created, with an exterior entrance structure and a separate identity. "Bananas" was a multi-level dining and lounge area which including entertainment and dancing.
An important element in achieving a major change of identity was the extensive use of vinyl fabric and pipe structures. It was an inexpensive and effective way to substantially change massing and simplify detail, as well as add color.
