In 1960, Freeport was still fairly new, with very little construction. But there were a lot of enthusiastic developers, of which my client was one. He lived in Ft. Lauderdale and he had big plans for his Caravel Club development. It was an exciting time for my architectural practice, which was less than a year old.
The beach club was to be the centerpiece for the new residential development, for which I designed four model houses. Three of them were built but the Caravel beach club did not make it.
Three other projects for three different clients, however did get built.
